![]() What an amazing two weeks that was - windsurfing, canoeing, not to mention all the stuff that went on at night. ![]() Sounds quite a brave thing to do looking back but exactly what I needed - leaping into an adventure in the unknown. The one in France was when I was 17, I arrived at the coach station in London alone, not knowing anyone and boarded a bus with a load of other 16-18 year olds for our two week adventure in France. With them I had two holidays in England and one in France. ![]() What I really wanted to do was get away from my parents, like any teenagers so I could get up to what I wanted, and I achieved this through the discovery of PGL. Which came in very handy in the summer of '86 when I met a young mademoiselle who showed me that French girls were a little more forward thinking than their equivalents back home in my church youth group. ![]() The camping holidays also extended into France by the mid 80s and I even had my own tent. Perhaps this was just as it was back then.Įventually as I grew older and my voice became heard I was able to negotiate some input into the holidays, and I did manage to persusade my dad to take me to Blackpool for a few days one summer but even then I had to endure a week of tramping up and down mountains in the lake district first - something I find absolutely dismal. Now I don't want to sound as if I am being unduly harsh - for all I know it was like this for all families and I certainly don't recall my schoolmates at primary school jetting off to sunnier climes, and certainly no-one ever went on holiday in term time. Prior to 1985 I set foot out of the country once - on a horrendous day trip to France on a cross channel ferry in 1979. As for fun things such as Butlins or Disneyworld, this was the stuff of fantasy. This frequently involved camping and B&B's - never hotels and certainly never abroad. Yes we always had one, but it was invariably in the UK, invariably on the cheap, and invariably based around what the parents wanted to do. Let's start with my childhood - this covers the period up to my mid teens.īack in the 70s and early 80s holidays never seemed to be that big a priority. They are something that define us, make for long lasting memories, snapshots of our life at key times. Never underestimate the importance of holidays. However, as our life moves through it's different stages our holiday needs change, just as our life needs change. We may all have our own ideas as to what constitutes the perfect holiday. The weather's gone off and it's gone a bit rainy which always makes me think of holidays. Who knows - all I know, is it's getting harder and harder to find the right holiday for "me". Thanks to this feature, you’ll be able to adjust the settings to achieve the desired results before the resizing process starts. On the left, you’ll see the height and width of your original image, while on the right, you’ll find the pixel dimension that your resized copies will have. For your convenience, our Photo Resizer offers a little preview. But if you are still having trouble figuring out what pixel dimensions of your image are, don’t worry. Knowing image resolution is important because it will allow you to resize a photo properly and without messing up its aspect ratio. Pixel dimensions will be displayed like this – 2200x1500. To find out the resolution of a photo on your phone, open it in your gallery and look for the “Information” icon – an “i” in a circle. Next, go to the “Detail” tab – there you will find all the information about your image, including its resolution. Right click on the file and select “Properties” if you are on Windows or “Get Info” if you are on Mac. There is another, simpler way to do it, though. The resolution of a photo can be checked in your digital camera or professional image editing software like Photoshop. Where You Can Check the Image Resolution? By resizing, we mean changing their pixel dimensions and subsequently, decreasing their file size. If either of these is an issue you’re currently facing and eager to solve, you’ll simply need to resize photos. High-resolution images that have a large file size are often impossible or incredibly difficult to upload to social networks and websites or send by email. For example, if your image is 6000 pixels wide and 4000 pixels high, then its resolution is 6000 x 4000 pixels. But at the same time, if your image contains a lot of pixels, its file size will also be quite large in case you don’t know what a file size is, it’s the amount of bytes your file takes up in your device’s memory.įiguring out image resolution is actually quite simple. Naturally, the higher the resolution the better the quality of a photo. In the world of photography, resolution is the number of pixels an image contains. Resize Photos Onlineĭigital images produced by cameras and smartphones consist of pixels. This can make the whole process quicker and easier if you always resize your images the same way. Therefore, the next time you open the Photo Resize tool, you will see the same values and options that you entered and selected during the last resizing. For instance, if you enter 60%, the photo resizer will reduce the width and height of the original image by 40%. The " Percentage" option can come in handy if you want to reduce the size of your image not to the exact pixel dimensions, but approximately. So, its resized copy will become 2500 x 1667 pixels. The size of the original photo is 5835 x 3890px. The height of your image will be changed to 2500 pixels, while its width will be reduced to a smaller number. ![]() However, if you upload the same photo, choose " Maximum width & height", and enter 2500 for width and 2500 for height, you won’t get a rectangular image as the result. Instead, it will be placed against a blurry background. But your photo won’t be awkwardly cropped. These settings will produce a rectangular image. Let’s say, you upload the same vertical image from the previous example – its size is 5835 x 3890px – and choose " Exact width & height", then enter 2500 for width and 2500 for height. The "Exact width & height" and “Maximum width & height” may seem similar, but they work differently. The width was altered automatically to preserve the aspect ratio of your original image. After the resizing process is done, you will get the image that has the height of 2000 pixels and the width of 1333 pixels. Next, you type in “2000” into the bar below. You upload a vertical photo that’s 5835 x 3890px and choose the “Exact height” option in the Output Settings. You will have control over only one value since our photo resizer will change the size of the other side automatically.įor example. With the first two options, you have to enter the exact number of width or height in pixels. In the app’s settings, you can choose one of the 5 resizing options: "Exact width", "Exact Height", "Exact width & height", "Maximum width & height" or "Percentage". ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Finally, cards in mint condition are always more valuable than those that are not. cards from older sets are also often more valuable than those from newer sets, as they are more difficult to find. Lines that are close together show steep inclines lines farther apart represent a gradual slope. If you’ve forgotten the details, an excellent explanation of how to read a topographical map can be found here. The main point in understanding topography is that each contour line represents a change in elevation. Probably you learned about topography in the same way. I first learned about topography in school when the concept of topographical maps was introduced. Cross contour lines give us a closer look at the topography of the objects we’re drawing, showing us the lumps, the bumps, and other details we need to make a realistic illustration. You can refer to it as a principle of good art, or you can just call it good, old-fashioned common sense, I think. So, yes, I’m familiar with contour lines, and I’ve learned how to use them in drawing and painting.Ĭross-contour lines, however, do more - a lot more - than define the edges of an object or guide us in our shading. On the roof, my brush strokes will be more diagonal. The wood of the barn clearly goes up and down, so I’ll use up and down motions with my brush. Suppose, for instance, I’m painting a farm scene with a barn - not likely since I’m not good at drawing buildings, but bear with me, please. The same holds true in painting, and I’ve learned to use brush strokes that represent the direction of the object’s basic contours. In shading a round object - an apple, as an example - we want our shading to follow the general shape of the apple, that is, to follow its contours. Next, I learned about using contour lines in a directional sense. Drawings like this are usually referred to simply as line drawings. ![]() It defines the outer edges of the object we’re drawing. Contour is a French word that means outline, and a basic contour drawing is essentially an outline of an object, much like you might see in a children’s coloring book. I first worked with contour lines in my beginning drawing lessons. I’m learning to use cross-contour lines in drawing, a practice that is helping me become more observant about the objects I draw and showing me how to best represent their three dimensionality on a two dimensional surface. Today I’m working on a skill that’s somewhat familiar yet still quite new to me. Learning new things is always a sign of progress. It feels good to practice new drawing techniques and know that even if I’m not good at the skill yet, I’m moving in a positive direction. ![]() ![]() When you are using an online invoice software, all customer information will be automatically saved in the cloud.
